Ginseng

Ginseng is a to species of Panax, which is a genus of 11 slow- growing species of perennial plants with thick roots of Araliaceae family. hese plants are mostly cultivated in eastern Asia, the Northern Hemisphere, especially in cooler climates. Panax vietnamensis, was discovered in Vietnam. The plant is distinguished by the presence of ginsenosides.

Ginseng has some medicinal properties. Both Panax (Asian) ginseng roots and American ginseng roots are administered orally as aphrodisiacs, adaptogens, nourishing stimulants. Ginseng is also used for treating type II diabetes and also for sexual dysfunction in men. You can find the root either in dried, whole or sliced form.Though it is the root which is important, ginseng leaf, is also found in dried form like the root.

Ginseng is usally found in some common and popular energy drinks.Since ginseng is found in subclinical doses it therefore has very little measurable medicinal effects. Even though it is someimes used in cosmetics, its effect is negligible. The root of Ginseng can be steamed together with chicken, meat as a soup The benefits of ginseng are difficult to validate scientifically probably due to the use of various tyoes of ginseng being used in research.

Ginseng is used popularly as a substnace that riases the body’s stress resistance. This product is known as an adaptogen. Ginseng has some antioxidant properties, though experiments conducted on animals to verify whether longevity increased in the presence of stress provided negative results. P. ginseng and P. quinquefolia are the common adaptogen ginsengs and are ususally considered to be safe even when used in large quantities. P. ginseng shows some side-effects one of them being the inability to sleep. Other side-effects include euphoria, nausea, high blood pressure, headaches, diarrhea, epistaxi ginseng can only grow in temperate regions. Nonetheless the root is legitimately classified as more Yin because it generates fluids.

The ginseng produced in Canada and the United States is in great demand in the Chinese societies as many traditiona Chinese Medicine encourages Yin energy, washes excess Yang from the body, and soothes the body as well. American ginseng supports Yin while ginseng of East Asia supports Yang. Traditional Chinese medicine states that things in cold places like mountains or on the southern side of the rivers are powerful in Yang and vice versa. There the two are well balanced. Initially, American ginseng was brought into China through subtropical Guangzhou, and therefore Cinese medical practitioners believed that American ginseng must be good for Yin, as it was from a hot area.
