
Borage is also addressed as starflower; it is an
herb plant from Syria. It may now be found al throughout Europe, Mediterranean regions, Iran and Africa.
Borage grows up to 100cm in height with hairy stem and simple leaves, the flowers are blue, white or pink colored with pointy petals. These flowers have good growth habit and may be in bloom all throughout the year.
Culinary Uses:
The borage leaves have small contents of herb, and they may be used in making soups, salads and sauces. Spanish people cook
borage in boiling water with baby potatoes for a swell vegetable dish. Even the lowers of borage, which has a honey taste, may be used for decorating desserts and cake dishes. Tea is made from the dried
borage flowers in Iranian culture. The tea has a dark purplish color that may turn pink on adding lemon essence.
Curative Uses:
Borage herb is rich in certain acid properties like oleic and palmitic. These acids may be useful for hormonal growth and metabolic system. Even the female PMS symptoms may be relived with use of borage supplements.
Borage is also known to give relief to common cold, allergic bronchitis and various respiratory disorders due to its balsamic or anti-inflammatory qualities. Such wondrous medicinal properties of
borage plant may be used to treat various human ailments. Borage is also on of the main ingredient in preparation of numerous medicinal doses and liquid forms.
