Arnica



Arnica, also known as Arnica Montana, is one of the most eligible herbs for the treatment of health issues like muscle pain, inflammatory disorders and wounds. Arnica belongs to the category of perennials and Arnica plant flowers resemble daisies. It is found in European and Siberian mountain peaks. The North American countries also grow these plantations. It is the flower head of the Arnica plant, which is dried to make the health preparations like creams, ointments, tincture, salve and liniment.

How to use Arnica:

The herb is not recommended for internal usage by children. The adults are also advised to have consultation before consuming this herb in the form of tea or homeopathic pills.

The various preparations from arnica are made possible by adding desired quantity of arnica flowers with tincture diluted by water. For instance compresses and poultices may be prepared by diluting tincture 3 to 10 times with water.

Some Words of Caution:
  • The skin must not be exposed to arnica products for long time, as it may lead to skin irritation.
  • The leg ulcers and similar problems are not fit for treatment by arnica.
  • Internal usage, without consulting a physician, may lead to vomiting, tremors and heart abnormalities.
  • The pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to consult the doctor for use of arnica.
  • It must be restricted to people prone to allergic reactions from herbs.
However, this herb doesn’t interact with any other form of medications.
