Hair is like a crown for every person. It enhances a person’s beauty and makes him look good. Maintaining hair is always a challenging task. Unfortunately many people experience hair fall.
Hair loss can be found in both the sexes, but it is commonly found in men. Hair fall in men is generally termed as male pattern baldness.
The causes for hair loss are many. General reasons for
hair loss are deficiency of hormone, ageing and heredity. Premature hair loss is due to stress, nutritional deficiency, genetic disorder, endocrine disorder and many others. Whereas the modern day causes for
hair fall are air pollution, water pollution, dandruff, usage of shampoos and chemicals.
Other factors which trigger hair loss are poor circulation, radiation, acute illness, chemotherapy, high stress, thyroid imbalance,
iron deficiency and improper care of hair. Women generally lose hair 2-3 months after giving birth to a baby. Birth control pills, excess of vitamin A and medicine used for anti-coagulant can also contribute in hair loss.
Hair loss affects the quality of life on both men and women. But researchers say women are greatly affected by hair loss compared to men. People who undergo
hair loss are low in confidence as well as maintain a low self esteem. It would distress them in every step of life. They often prefer to skip social function due to their baldness. Some even cannot find an emotional support for their problem.
Often said it is difficult to prevent a hair loss. Treatments are available for hair growth which may help in hiding the baldness. The drugs generally prescribed for baldness are minoxidil, finasteride, corticosteroids and anthralin. Surgical procedures like hair transplant are being used for
hair loss treatment. In hair transplant hair follicles are planted in the bald region. This procedure is generally expensive and painful. A wig or hairpiece would be a simple alternative to medication.
