Allergies are reactions of the immune system of the body to a particular type of substance or environment, which does not suit the body.
Allergies vary in types hugely and there are can be apparently normal substances to which the body is allergic. Such a very normal thing is the sun- people would hardly ever guess that they are allergic to the sun.
Sun allergies generally manifest as
skin rashes, causing itchiness in the body. However, for people who are hyper sensitive to the sun, hives and blisters might develop and even spread to areas of the body which are not even exposed to the sun directly. At the onset, they can manifest as small rings around the arms on legs, progressing to form welts or more painful symptoms. Mostly babies and children are more prone to catch the sun allergies.
There are basically four main types of
sun allergies that have been observed. The polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) is an itchy rash that occurs on exposure to the sun. There is another type of hereditary PMLE, actinic prurigo, that is found mostly in native Americans and has expresses itself in the same league as PLME. Photo allergic eruptions are allergies that occur mostly due to a reaction between the sun and a substance like sun screen or medication that you have used on your body. In this case, a pharmacist’s help is advisable. Solar urticaria though is the most uncommon of
sun allergies; it is not something that cannot be found. This targets at making women to have itchy bumps and hives.
