Among the various types of allergies, skin allergy is one that should be taken good note of. This is because
skin allergies cause rashes and inflammations on the skin causing both pain and consciousness. Though itching can be present without rashes, it is advisable to seek medical help.
Skin allergies are of various types are the two most common ones are eczema and hives.
The most common of
skin allergies is eczema or atopic dermatis. Mostly children fall prone to eczema because children tend to scratch wounds or insect bites more than adults. These rashes mainly occur on the chest, scalp or cheeks of children. As a person becomes older, eczema frequents in places like the inner side of the elbows, behind the knees or other skin folds. However, they may occur in other body parts as well. The rashes are generally red in colour and flake out or oozes from tiny blisters when scratched.
Hives, medically known as utricaria is an allergy that causes substantial itching and can occur at any age. These are generally reddened bumps, lasting for only a few minutes or hours. Generally eczema is accompanied by another fellow
allergy that is known as Angioedema which involves swelling of eyes, lips, hands or feet. It generally does not give itchy symptoms but gives out a stinging sensation. If the swellings are on the lips or near the nose and become larger than expected, they can cause breathing difficulties and can be life threatening.
