Most people love to have pets at home. But there are allergies that know no bounds with pets in the house. There could arise
pet allergies which are triggered by the proteins from the strands of hair or from urine and saliva of the pets at your home. These allergies can go on to attack your nasal passage or eyes and lead to allergic conditions like hay fever, atopic dermatitis, asthmatic symptoms or nettle rashes. You can avoid such allergies by staying away from having a pet but it is indeed very difficult to stay away from other people’s pets, mostly when those people are your classmates and colleagues. Pet owners generally come infested with pet allergens.
Pet allergies arise mostly due to cats and dogs though other pets like rats, poultry can also cause allergies.
Proteins from pets’ bodies make the body to produce histamines and this causes an inflammation and swelling at the upper air passages, causing hay fever or showing asthmatic symptoms.
Running nose and sneezing are common symptoms of hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis. Itching and watering eyes can also be symptoms of
pet allergies. They also manifest in the form of children’s eczema, whereby red and itchy patches develop on the skin. Nettle rashes are also a common symptom, besides asthma. Polluted air or other pollutants or
allergens like pollens can make the allergies worse.
It is advisable to consult medical help and keep away from pets if you are allergic to them. Also, avoid carpets or teddy bears that can attract dust particles and keep as clean as possible.
